My
thoughts/feeling about terms buyers...
I have to state first that I have purchased
most of my horses with terms. I don't have a problem with the idea of
buying a horse on terms...so long as you are a responsible
adult who is honest. I signed a contract when I bought horses
on terms and regardless of life's financial/emotional/physical changes
or what the horse looked like after it got here
I HONORED MY CONTRACT.
That said. If you plan to buy one of
my horses on terms you need to read the following...
1) I am not a bank. I charge full
asking price for my horses if you are going to make me wait sometimes
over a year to collect the money. Do NOT negotiate with me like you are
paying cash and then drop the ball that you don't actually have the
money ready to send out immediately. Cash means immediate Pay Pal, Visa,
next day via fed-ex...not in two weeks...not in a month.)
2) As stated on my main sales page.
Deposits are non refundable. Horses are expensive to board and
expensive to market. If I have one "on hold" for you via deposit it is
costing me money every day and I am turning away other buyers.
Regardless the reason...i.e. you are flaky, were abducted by aliens,
cant pay your bills...I am sorry but I will NOT return a deposit. NO
WAY. DON'T ASK.
3) Where does the
horse stay during the terms? HERE. And you are not off the hook
financially if something happens to it while it's here. (It's not my
fault you didn't have the cash to buy the horse outright). Let me put it
another way... If you buy a car and someone strips it in the airport
parking lot while you're on vacation do you still have to make your car
payments? Once you agree to a terms purchase agreement you have accepted
responsibility of the purchase and the merchandise you are buying. I
strongly recommend mortality insurance on all terms purchases.
